Blacktown City Mayor Lowles Tribute to Cory

The Blacktown City Council paid tribute to Cory and has opened a condolence book for residents wanting to express their sympathies. “Corazon was a beacon of hope and a symbol for freedom and democracy for the country she led for six years,” Mayor of Blacktown City Councillor Charlie Lowles said. “Corazon’s passing is particularly sad for many local residents as Blacktown City is home to the largest Filipino community in Australia,” Mayor Lowles said.“I had the pleasure of meeting Corazon in the early nineties when she visited Council and met with many local Filipino residents,” Mayor Lowles said. “I have had a number of local Filipino residents speak to me of their desire to, in any small way, express their sympathy. On behalf of Council, I extend an invitation to all residents of Blacktown to sign a condolence book Council has prepared in light of Corazon’s passing,” Mayor Lowles said.[Everyone sign the book at Blacktown City Council, 62 Flushcombe Road, Blacktown from Wednesday August 12, 2009 to Friday, August 28, 2009 - 9.00am – 4.30pm weekdays.].
